Karen Keown
Karen is a consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and director of the NI paediatric CF service. She completed PRM and CF training in BC Children’s Hospital Vancouver and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Her primary research interest is in CF lung infection and inflammation with ongoing research with Queen’s University Belfast in this area.
Michelle Spence
Michelle is a respiratory research physiologist based in the NI Clinical Research Facility in Belfast. She graduated as a respiratory & sleep physiologist in 2014 and worked as a clinical physiologist in both London and Belfast. In 2018, she started working in respiratory research in Belfast City Hospital, working on bronchiectasis, chronic cough and cystic fibrosis studies, as well as COVID studies during the pandemic. She helped with the initial set up of the paediatric RECOVER study in RBHSC in 2021, and then came onto the study as coordinator in 2023.
