    Rebecca Thursfield

    Dr Rebecca Thursfield is a consultant in Paediatric Respiratory medicine at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Trust and holds an honorary contract with the University of Liverpool.  Having completed medical school in Liverpool in 2002 she then undertook general paediatric and specialist respiratory paediatrics training in London, obtaining an MD(Res) from Imperial College, before moving back to Liverpool to take up her consultant post. She specialises in Cystic Fibrosis, respiratory physiology, and respiratory complications of oesophageal atresia/trachea-oesophageal fistula.   Dr Thursfield is currently leading the OCELOT study;  an international collaboration to develop a core outcome set for people born with oesophageal atresia. She has a particular interest in clinical research and is currently principal investigator for 3 pharmaceutical clinical trials in cystic fibrosis as well as leading 2 of her own research projects. She is the chief investigator on a trial assessing the impact of adding a gaming device to daily physiotherapy routine for children with cystic fibrosis.
